SingFit For Individuals

The Short of It – What is SingFit?
At its core, SingFit (US Patent No. 5,820,384) is an app for iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch hardware that makes it easier than ever to sing, record and even share songs with family, friends, caregivers and the world. Download it now!

Developed by certified music therapists, SingFit programming also includes educational events, enterprise products and friendly support services. These “extras” are designed to help individuals (including people with dementia, low vision and other special needs) access music’s special ability to help keep our minds, bodies and creative spirits humming along.

Flip through the TV schedule and the steady stream of popular singing shows prove we are a society that is truly singing obsessed. And even with this preoccupation, how many of us sing on a regular basis for the sheer love of it? For fun? For health? For the special little thrill of finally hitting that note? The goal of SingFit is to get millions of people involved in singing as part of their daily and weekly fitness routines.

Where to Get It – What it Costs
The SingFit app can be downloaded from the Apple iTunes App Store. Use the app for yourself or watch this short video; those are the best ways to understand how SingFit’s patented Lyric Coach™ track makes for more spontaneous and successful singing experiences than traditional karaoke technology. The free app always comes stocked with at least five complimentary songs (sign up for our newsletter to get notice of special promotions and free downloads).

A $4.99-per-month in-app subscription allows all-you-can-sing access to SingFit’s continually growing playlist of more than 120 songs.

The Nitty Gritty – Why SingFit Works
An ever-growing number of studies show that regular singing can have a range of health and wellness benefits. These studies reveal what most of us feel instinctively, that singing can help maintain cognitive abilities and memory function as well as encourage positive social interactions and provide a cardiovascular workout. Not to mention, singing is just plain fun and a favorite pastime of many, so it’s a healthy habit that usually doesn’t require much arm twisting or convincing.

Professional and nonprofessional caregivers alike, as well as anyone interested in singing for health and wellness, are invited to join our free monthly webinars. Taking place the final Wednesday of every month, these webinars feature live Q&As with certified music therapists on how to use SingFit and other musical tools to improve the lives of clients, loved ones and ourselves.

Your Guilty Pleasure  - What’s in the SingFit Playlist?
SingFit is stocked with a growing catalog of more than 120 songs that spans generations and genres, including the still-in-heavy rotation “Over the Rainbow,”  “Lean on Me” and “Sweet Home Alabama,” as well as traditional favorites like “Amazing Grace,” “Hava Nagila” and “Jingle Bells.” Right now, two new songs get added to the SingFit catalog every Thursday, so there’s always fresh material to try out. Recent additions have included the legendary dance hit “The Twist,” 80s rock ballad “Love is a Battlefield” and the always classic “Happy Birthday.”

How Much Should Someone Sing – Your Musical Prescription
In general, SingFit should be approached like other types of physical exercise. If someone is generally healthy, singing three times a week for twenty minutes is a great start to incorporating musical activity as part of a healthy lifestyle.

If the singer has neurological, physical or psychological challenges, we recommend consulting a healthcare professional before undertaking a weekly singing routine with SingFit.*
